Rescuers in Indonesia are working through thick layers of hot ash and smoking debris to find survivors after the Mount Semeru eruption that occurred last Saturday.
The volcano - one of the most active in the country - released burning ash and volcanic gas into the air, darkening the sky over villages in East Java province.
